The Smaldeel Mini-Pit Coal Mine is situated near Emalahleni in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa and was owned by BHP Energy Coal SA. The initial three-year contract began in January 2009 and was subsequently extended to September 2012, when the client began with owner mining. The Moolmans contract scope included drill and blast and load and haul of waste and ore.
From October 2012, a further contract extension was awarded to March 2013 for one Moolmans load, haul and dump team to assist the client in opening their new Bankfontein mini-pit.
