POSITION: Senior Production Manager

LOCATION: Northern Cape(Tshipi Project)

REPORTING TO: Snr.ContractManager

JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: To manage the execution of the required work within the project schedules and contractual agreements, ensuring technical excellence and effective coordination of the respective staff within the project team. Plan, direct, coordinate, or budget, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with bulk earthworks in accordance with the mining plan. Participate in theconceptual development of an Opencast Mining project and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Establish and build good client relationships
  • Ensure financial management and costing adhered to project plan
  • Plan, organize, execute and monitor the production process.
  • Monitor BCM performance towards targets daily:
    • BCM per hour to exceed contractual and tender rates/volumes,
    • Hourly, daily & weekly tracking of production outputs,
    • Ensure that all subordinates and operators are aware of set targets and actual hourly achievement towards targets,
    • Take responsibility to implementimmediate actions to address/rectify any deviations fromset targets.
  • Ensure pit optimization and optimal utilization of machinery.
  • Plays a key role in all people management processes
  • Responsible for ensuring all administrative requirements are met
  • Ensure compliance to Safety and Quality policies, procedures and standards.
  • Plan, organize and monitor the Drilling and Blasting process.
  • Ensure compliance to blasting related laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Produce and improve approved drill and blast design pattern.
  • Ensure that the Drill & Blast drill note and drilling plan is ready for every pattern before Drill and Blast operation commences.
  • Ensure quality control of blast patterns through (but not limited to) monitoring compliance to the design.
  • Drill pattern and over inspect hole depths drilled to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure that sufficient blasting related accessories are available for his crew, order items when out of stock.
  • Monitor, measure and document blast results
  • Manage the blasting process to meet schedule requirements.
  • Manage blasting accessories, tools and explosives supplier(s) as well as blasting crew.
  • Manage GET within budget; minimize cost & damage to G.E.T

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree/ National Diploma -Mining Engineering (preferred)
  • Opencast Blasting Certificate (Compulsory)

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 10 years’ relevant experience of which at least 5 years should be in a relevant managerial level position in an open-cast mining environment
  • Clean criminal record
  • Valid driver’s license

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Business Aptitude -The ability to drive profits, exceed targets and minimize losses.
  • Technical Aptitude -The capacity for using specific knowledge, tools or other equipment to enhance performance.
  • Strong computer literacy in the following: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, blast design software. Knowledge of Xpac / Surpac will be an advantage.
  • Vast knowledge of an Open Cast Mining Operation.
  • Vast knowledge of Loading & Hauling procedures, laws, regulations and blast management.
  • Good communication skills and solid knowledge of IR Procedures
