POSITION: Pit Superintendent
BUSINESS UNIT: Mining
LOCATION: Northern Cape (Sishen Project)
REPORTING TO: Production Manager
JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: To manage the execution of the required work within the project schedules and contractual agreements, ensuring technical excellence and effective coordination of the respective staff within the project team. Plan, direct, coordinate, or budget, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a project and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
- Plan, organise and monitor the production process.
- Ensure optimal plant utilisation & availability
- Plays a key role in all people management processes
- Responsible for ensuring all administrative requirements are met
- Ensure compliance to Safety and Quality policies, procedures and standards.
- Pit Sup handover procedure
- Night hand over procedure
- Manage on time completion of plant for projects
- External client / supplier liaison
- Ensure that procedures and COP’s are strictly adhered to
- Technical supervision
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- National Diploma -Mining Engineering will be an advantage
- Opencast Blasting Certificate
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience in the Surface Mining environment

- Computer Literate (Microsoft Office) will be beneficial
