POSITION: Mining Planning Officer
BUSINESS UNIT: Mining
LOCATION: Northern Cape (TshipiProject)
REPORTING TO: Technical Manager
JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: The incumbent will be responsible for scheduling the full spread of mining activities at an open cast mining operation including drilling, blasting, and loading to ensure no surprise stoppages of machines. Estimates material, labour, and overhead costs to establish costs of products required for mining execution. Conducts pricing comparisons and feasibility studies. Assist operations with their mine planning and scheduling requirements. Reconciliation & Mentoring of daily, weekly & monthly plans.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
- To produce and schedule tracker and maintain daily to determine progress to Plan / Schedule
- Generate daily volumes on software (Month Material Profile)
- Signing off of Week, Month & 3 Month Mine Plan
- Week, Month & 3 Month Schedule (With above mentioned reports)
- Updated Weekly schedule for planning meeting. (Reflecting updated polygons remaining, as well as updated drilling meters and Blasted Inventory remaining in the blocks)
- Take accurate and detailed notes during the planning meeting.
- Good Planning Software Skills in order to design blocks in the client’s pit shell.
- Importing and scheduling these blocks in Software with the required mining experience
- Good understanding of client Medium Term Plan
- Develop and sustain a short term mine plan within the clients Medium Term Plan
- Measure and ensure as far as possible compliance to short term and schedule
- Continues improvement on short term plan and schedule
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have completed National Diploma in Mining Engineering
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years Post Graduate Mining experience in an Open Cast Environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of Open Cast Mining, Mine Planning & Scheduling
- Experience in Cost Estimation
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of contract law and contractual matters
- Advance level of SURPAC /XPAC usage
- TALPAC / FPC ability and capability
- Experience and capability in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Projects applications
- Mechanical, verbal, numerical and technical aptitude
