Khutala Colliery is a large, multi-seam, multi-section board and pillar underground and contractor-operated open cut mine.
The current contract awarded by South 32 Coal Holdings, encompasses the production drilling and loading and hauling of waste and coal material from the main mini pit known as KSA, with an average annual production of 7 million in-situ cubic metres. This mini pit will form the access for underground works. The mini pit is a five-seam coal pit which delivers thermal coal product to the market. Moolmans also provides additional support services in the mini pit in the form of re-handling material and additional production dozing.
