Kansanshi Mine is a copper and gold mine situated in the north-west of Zambia, 10 km outside the town Solwezi. Moolmans was awarded the plant hire contract in October 2011 by First Quantum Minerals Ltd, a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada.
The fleet at Kansanshi increased from the initial 14 machines to 23 pieces of mining equipment, with Moolmans eventually owning and operating 18 one-hundred tonne rigid dump trucks, two water bowsers, two dozers and a grader. The primary services offered by Moolmans at Kansanshi were the hauling of waste material, transfer of ore to the ROM pad, re-handling of stockpiles and additional day works projects.
