POSITION: Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic, Boilermaker, Auto-Elec
BUSINESS UNIT: Moolmans
LOCATION: Northern Cape(Various Sites)
REPORTING TO: Workshop Foreman/Earthmoving Plant Manager
JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: The effective repair and maintenance of all Heavy Earthmoving Equipment on site,with the least disruption to the site. Attempt to achieve maximum availability for each plant itemon site.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
Earthmoving Equipment Apprenticeship:
- Assist Artisan to (amongst others):
-
- Diagnose faults and repairs on all Earthmoving Equipment.
- Carry out preventative maintenance on Earthmoving Equipment to company standards.
- Carry out all minor and major services.
- Check machines and carry out repairs that are required.
- Report all breakdowns to management
- Complete daily and weekly inspection sheets and advise notes
- Ordering of spares required for repair, maintenance and services
- Monitor and measure daily efficiencies
- Implement productivity improvement initiatives according to OE plan
- Ensure plant availability of 90%.
- Coordinate services of all equipment and plant.
BOILERMAKER APPRENTICESHIP:
- Assist Artisan to (amongst others):

- Carryout maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment
- Fabricatefrom drawings, welding and developments
AUTO-ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICESHIP:
- Assist Artisan to (amongst others):
-
- Adhere to organisational Safety and Quality requirements
- Checks electrical systems on designated fleet on a daily basis by visually inspecting operation of lights, flashers, warning systems, computers and analysing fault codes by using ET, VIMS on CAT machines and EDS, INSITE on O&K machines to determine root causes.
- Carries out any electrical repairs to designated fleet eg. wiring, starters or alternators.
- Lists all faults which cannot be rectified immediately and report these to the Plant Foreman for follow up action.
- Arrange requisitions of any electrical spares needed for the designated fleet.
- Carries out planned electrical maintenance to various machines, as required.
- Check and sign all service cards on a daily basis on items repaired.
- Follow up on electrical breakdowns as a matter of urgency.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade12
- N2 with the following subjects: Mathematics, Science, Drawing and related trade theory (Boilermaking/Plating/Fitting/Diesel/Electrical).
EXPERIENCE:
- Valid Drivers’ License
- No criminal record
- Able to pass aptitudetest
- Able to pass medical
- Not currently or previously registered on learnership with a company
- Letter from the Local Counsellor as proof of residence
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Good communication skills
- Practical experience in the relevant field with be advantageous
- Mechanical and technical skills
