POSITION: Drilling Foreman
BUSINESS UNIT: Moolmans
LOCATION: Northern Cape (Kolomala Mine Project)
REPORTING TO: Pit Superintendent/Production Manager
JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Overseeing of the effective drilling process on a surface mining operation. Ensure to achieve maximum productivity, managing the equipment and people available on site.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
- Achieve drilling targets in a safe and efficient manner.
- Manage cost efficiency, quality of work and supervise drilling team
- Preparation and cleaning, assist with the layout and demarcation of all drill patterns.
- Measuring, cleaning and plugging of all blast holes.
- Responsible for the reporting of breakdowns to Pit/Drilling Superintendent.
- Control the services/diesel/maintenance on the rigs.
- Report and manage meters per hour, achieve allowable
- Drill rigs to be positioned to a safe area outside the pattern for daily services.
- Control and discipline the team.
- Adhere to organisational Safety and Quality requirements
- Measure production and achieve hourly, daily and monthly targets
- Ensure good house keeping
- Ensure to provide/ hand over a clean and safe work place to the next supervisor on shift.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics passed as subject
- Mining or Mechanical related qualification will be advantageous
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have at least 5 years’ relevant experience in an Opencast Mining environment, at Supervisory level.
- Comprehensive experience working with the following Drill Rigs: Sandvik D25KS, D45KS
- Strong experience in managing a diverse team in a unionized work environment
- Competency A
- Opencast Blasting Certificate is compulsory
- Clean criminal record V
- Valid Driver’s license

- Excellent drilling, technical and mechanical skills
- Cost management and troubleshooting skills
- Strong drive and ability to achieve drilling targets
- Strong safety drive, culture and values
- Strong people and Employee Relations skills (knowledge of labour laws and disciplinary processes)
